LOS ANGELES, CA, May 1, 2012 – JVC Mobile Entertainment, a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated mobile, audio, and video products, announces its 2012 “TURN ME ON: THE ROAD / HALESTORM” campaign to promote JVC In-Dash Multimedia and Navigation receivers. The campaign focuses on an explosive documentary-style viral video, featuring chart-topping hard rock act, Halestorm. An extensive campaign, including online banner ads, video content placement, social media integration, extensive PR buzz, as well as concert tour promotion, will commence with launch of the video, which will also be featured on the high-definition JVC video billboard in Times Square.

With the inception of the TURN ME ON franchise back in 2008, JVC Mobile completely rethought its marketing strategy by dedicating the majority of its marketing and media budget to a groundbreaking online viral video featuring artists like Josh Todd from Buckcherry, Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach, The Charm City Devils, Darling Stilettos, The All-American Rejects, as well as Lita Ford, Candlebox, Puddle of Mudd, and Rev Theory. JVC Mobile Entertainment’s TURN ME ON series, which has garnered over 40 million combined video views and over 2 billion brand impressions, has revolutionized the car audio marketing landscape with this innovative series.

This year, JVC Mobile has raised the stakes for the fifth installment, with a more expansive video concept, following Halestorm on the band’s 2012 US tour, in support of their new album, The Strange Case Of…. The new format will feature a three episode roll-out throughout 2012. The video will follow Halestorm’s journey through their 2012 tour schedule, starting with pre-tour rehearsals and preparations, and all points in-between, as they hit the road from spring to summer to fall. The creative execution will result in a fast-paced “rockumentary” lifestyle video created and directed by TURN ME ON mastermind Danny Klein, with key video and stills captured on a daily basis by renowned music photographer, Rob Fenn. The intensive shoots will take place at key on-location stops throughout the year, including exclusive interviews with band members and loyal fans.

The viral video’s first chapter, released today, May 1, 2012, will start with a focus on Halestorm’s tour preparations, featuring interviews and candid moments from the band members, including their childhood musical aspirations, their experiences in the band, and finally their huge successes. The video will follow the band as they kick off their tour at the Earthday Birthday festival in Orlando, where live performances will be documented. The second release in the summer will capture Halestorm and their US tour journey. The final chapter, to be released in the fall, promises to go out with a bang. All three of these segments will comprise one complete piece entitled TURN ME ON: THE ROAD /HALESTORM ROCKUMENTARY.

Along with rock stars, entertainment, and great music, the viral video incorporates key interactions with JVC Mobile’s in-car technology. Each video chapter will feature JVC Navigation, Multimedia receivers with popular iPhone App integration inside a Ford Shelby GT 500 Supersnake, which serves as the “hero” car throughout the video. Effects will be incorporated to bring these products to life, serving as a reminder that JVC Mobile’s in-car technology is a very integral part of our lives.

“For our latest edition of the Turn Me On series, we wanted to break the mold and do something dramatically different,” said Chad Vogelsong, General Manager of Marketing for JVC Mobile Entertainment. “This campaign is a raw, edgy, ‘behind-the-scenes rockumentary’-styled journey with the band Halestorm, on the road during their album launch and touring cycle in 2012. It shows the band creating and performing music on the road and creates the ‘TURN ME ON’ connection between music, driving and how it makes you feel as a music fan. JVC products and technology bring the same feeling in your car, regardless of whether you are rocking out to music on a CD, iPod, or streaming your favorite music App on your smartphone.”

“I’m so excited about JVC’s ‘TURN ME ON’ campaign,” says Halestorm lead singer, Lzzy Hale. “The truth is that no matter what new gadgets, mediums or incarnations our music goes through, one thing remains the same; we like it LOUD and BLARING through our speakers! Turn it up and TURN ME ON!”

For the third consecutive year, media partner egoTv has been tapped to be the exclusive online distribution network for the branded entertainment campaign. The site will also feature exclusive galleries from Rob Fenn, along with periodic posts with updated features throughout the year from JVC Mobile Entertainment. Users will be able to grab embed codes and site links from egoTv to spread the TURN ME ON: THE ROAD/HALESTORM video around the web. The page will include an email opt-in area to capture JVC Mobile fan emails, links to technology partner sites, as well as a “Locate Now” button that will take users to the Dealer Locator page on JVC Mobile’s website. Fans will also be able to link to iTunes to buy Halestorm’s albums, as well as to keep up to date on tour dates and other info.

With its 1920×1080 non-glare IPS panel, the DT-V21G11Z offers a 178-degree viewing angle with 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and is compatible with ITU-709 standard color space for HDTV broadcasting. It includes a 3G/dual-link HD-SDI input with embedded audio to monitor 1080p/60 signals, plus component and composite inputs to accommodate legacy equipment and a DVI-D input for Blu-ray playback. Other features include 10-bit processing, built-in vector scope and waveform monitor, 11 marker functions, selectable gamma preset modes, LTC and VITC time code support, 16-channel audio level meter with multiple indicators, low latency circuitry, built-in speakers, and digital closed captioning.

The DT-V21G11Z has a suggested list price of $3,595 and is now shipping. JVC will showcase its entire line of professional LCD monitors at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314), which runs April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

WAYNE, NJ (April 16, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced its intention to support the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) “AS-10: MXF for Production” project with its new GY-HM650 ProHD handheld mobile news camera, which will be demonstrated at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314) in Las Vegas, Nev., April 16-19. The project is designed to establish a common MXF file format for a typical end-to-end production workflow.

With built-in FTP and Wi-Fi connectivity, the GY-HM650 camcorder is designed to shoot and deliver news footage faster than ever. It records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats to non-proprietary SDHC or SDXC media cards, including MXF files with rich descriptive metadata that is optimized for news production workflow. Metadata can be sent to the camcorder from a WiFi connected device, such as an iPhone or Android smartphone, using JVC developed apps or received from the news desk editor via FTP.

“An all-in-one container MXF file ‘watermarked’ with rich descriptive metadata, which is introduced at acquisition by the camcorder, is carried throughout the entire workflow from NLEs to playout servers. AS-10 compliant equipment and software preserve image quality and metadata that is critical for automated asset management solutions,” explained Edgar Shane, JVC general manager, engineering. “Upon completion of AS-10 certification, we expect wide penetration of this equipment into enterprise workflows with emphasis on speed, quality, and reliable asset management and archival.”

Established in 2000 as the Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) Association, AMWA’s mission is to develop and advance the use of media standards and technology to enable more effective file-based media workflows. A co-creator of MXF, AMWA works for compatibility between AAF, BXF, MXF, and XML The association will exhibit at NAB for the first time this year in Booth N617.

WAYNE, NJ (April 16, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the SR-HD2500US, the latest model in its successful line of high performance professional combo decks. With its built-in Blu-ray recorder and 500 GB hard drive, the unit provides easy duplication and disc authoring without a PC. Plus, it features an HD/SD-SDI input, which allows it to connect to most professional video systems and provide direct recording of a live signal to Blu-ray disc.

“With its built-in HD-SDI interface, the new SR-HD2500US is compatible with most HD production switchers,” explained Dave Walton, JVC assistant vice president, marketing communications. “Beyond traditional duplication tasks, our new combo deck is a very valuable tool for live events, because a producer can deliver a Blu-ray copy of a program to their client as soon as the program is completed.”

For disc authoring, videos are transferred from a camcorder or other device to the internal hard drive (which stores up to 24 hours of HD footage), then assembled into a completed project and recorded to Blu-ray disc via a simple, menu-driven interface. Users can record and author professional BDMV (with menu) or BDAV discs using BD-R or BD-RE (erasable) Blu-ray discs. Unprotected DVD and Blu-ray discs can be easily duplicated as well.

The SR-HD2500US offers a number of upgrades over JVC’s previous Blu-ray combo decks. For example, time code mode allows producers to a create a “window burn” of the time code embedded in the SDI signal. It is an easy way to create high-quality dailies and client review copies – and the window burn is in the picture area, making it far less attractive for unauthorized use.

A time stamp feature provides on-screen time and date information, even when there is no time code information embedded in the SDI signal. Generated by the clock in the SR-HD2500US, time stamp information is useful for surveillance and law enforcement applications, as well as academic and medical research.

Discs can be authored for auto-start or repeat playback, which is ideal for retail point-of-sale displays or kiosks. With its built-in format converter, the SR-HD2500US can record to DVDs as well. The unit supports AVC H.264, MPEG-TS, and MPEG-2 video recording, plus Dolby Digital and Linear PCM audio recording. It also accepts AVCHD camcorder files as well as .MOV files recorded by JVC ProHD camcorders at 19, 25, and 35 Mbps.

The SR-HD2500US features USB and i.Link (IEEE-1394) ports, as well as a SDHC card slot, for compatibility with a wide variety of digital sources. Composite and S-Video inputs are included to provide support for legacy analog devices. There are also HD-SDI, HDMI, and component outputs for flexible monitoring, and a RS-232 port for external control.

The SR-HD2500US has a suggested list price of $3,995 and is now shipping. JVC will showcase the new combo deck at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314), which runs April 16-19 in Las Vegas, Nev.

LAS VEGAS (April 16, 2012) – JVC KENWOOD and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today that I, Robot, the successful science-fiction action film, will be the first title in a series of legacy movies being converted to Blu-ray 3D for the home. JVC KENWOOD has developed a new 2D3D conversion process that will convert movies to Blu-ray 3D.

Futuresource is predicting some 8.8 million households with a 3D-equipped HDTVs by the end of 2012 and over 18 million households by the end of 2013. The increased interest in the format will bring a greater demand for quality 3D movies in the marketplace.

“The advances in 3D conversion technology developed by JVC have exceeded our most optimistic expectations, said Danny Kaye, EVP, Global Research and Technology Strategy, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “We look forward to bringing movies like the already visually stunning I, Robot to the home on Blu-ray 3D.”

“One significant impediment to broad acceptance of 3D entertainment at home has been the limited amount of popular content,” said Kazuhiro Aigami, senior executive vice president and executive officer, JVC KENWOOD Corporation. “This new process allows the development of a practical business model for the release of legacy motion picture titles in 3D for the home entertainment market.”

I, Robot, which earned an Oscar® nomination for best special effects, will be released on Blu-ray 3D later this year.

WAYNE, NJ (April 16, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the GY-HM600, a next-generation handheld ProHD camera that delivers exceptional imagery and features for news, sports, and independent production. It features a built-in wide angle 23x autofocus zoom lens, delivers superior low-light performance, and provides excellent sensitivity (F11 at 2000 lux) in a comfortable, versatile form factor. The new HD camera will be demonstrated at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314) in Las Vegas, Nev., April 16-19.

The lightweight camera records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats, including native XDCAM EX™ (.MP4), Final Cut Pro™ (.MOV), and AVCHD, to non-proprietary SDHC or SDXC media cards. In addition to relay mode for uninterrupted recording, the GY-HM600 allows simultaneous recording to both memory cards for instant backup or client copy.

“JVC understands the needs of today’s video professionals, and our new GY-HM600 delivers innovation without compromise,” said Craig Yanagi, manager, marketing and brand strategy. “It sets a new standard of performance for handheld cameras with incredible optics, intuitive operation, and the industry’s fastest shoot-to-edit workflow.”

With a 1.22 MP color viewfinder and color 3.5-inch LCD, the GY-HM600 is versatile enough to handle tripod-based shots and run-and-gun situations. A second trigger and servo zoom control on the built-in handle make it easy to record while holding the camera at low or high angles, while the Pre Rec (retro cache) feature continuously records and stores up to five seconds of footage in cache memory to help prevent missed shots of breaking events.

The GY-HM600 is equipped with three, 1/3-inch 12-bit CMOS sensors, each with 1920×1080 pixels. The built-in Fujinon HD lensfeatures a wide focal range of 29mm-667mm (35mm equivalent) and has manual focus, zoom, and iris rings, along with three ND filters. Other features include auto-focus with face detection and an optical image stabilizer.

A built-in stereo microphone is ideal for capturing natural sound, but the GY-HM600 also includes two XLR inputs with phantom power and a shotgun mic holder, as well as a headphone jack and separate input for a wireless mic receiver. The GY-HM600 is equipped with a LANC remote connector and is compatible with JVC’s ProHD Compact Studio ProHD seven-inch monitor for an affordable studio system. Plus, the camera includes a time-code synchronization input as well as HD-SDI and HDMI outputs.

The GY-HM600 has a suggested list price of $4,695 and will be available in Fall 2012.

Equipped with dual codecs, it produces full HD files on one memory card while simultaneously creating smaller, Web-friendly files (1/4 HD) on a second card. With built-in FTP and Wi-Fi connectivity, the GY-HM650 delivers the footage back to a station without a microwave or satellite connection.

With a built-in Fujinon wide angle 23x zoom lens, superior low-light performance, and excellent sensitivity (F11 at 2000 lux), the GY-HM650 has ideal optics for challenging shooting environments. The HD lens has a focal range of 29mm-667mm (35mm equivalent) and includes manual focus, servo zoom, and iris rings, along with three ND filters and a removable hood. Other features include JVC’s auto-focus with face detection and an optical image stabilizer.

Equipped with three, 1/3-inch 1920×1080 12-bit CMOS sensors, the lightweight GY-HM650 records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats, including native XDCAM EX™ (.MP4), Final Cut Pro™ (.MOV), and AVCHD, to non-proprietary SDHC or SDXC media cards. It also records .MXF files with rich descriptive metadata that is optimized for asset management. The camera also includes HD-SDI and HDMI outputs for easy monitoring of HD footage.

“Newsgathering and independent production continue to evolve. One or two-person teams have become commonplace, and many shooters are capturing images for TV, the Internet, and mobile devices,” said Craig Yanagi, manager, marketing and brand strategy. “With built-in Web connectivity, simultaneous recording of a Web-friendly video file, and .MXF files with rich descriptive metadata, the GY-HM650 is ideal for today’s file-based workflows.”

Designed for versatility, the GY-HM650 features a 1.22 MP color viewfinder and color 3.5-inch LCD to handle run-and-gun and tripod-based stand-ups. The Pre Rec (retro cache) feature continuously records and stores up to five seconds of footage in cache memory to help prevent missed shots of breaking news, while a second trigger and servo zoom control on the built-in handle makes it easy to record while holding the camera at low or high angles.

In addition, the GY-HM650 provides a number of essential audio features. Its built-in stereo microphone is ideal for capturing natural sound on location, but the camera also includes two XLR inputs with phantom power and a shotgun mic holder, as well as a headphone jack and separate input for a wireless mic receiver.

The GY-HM650 will be demonstrated at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314), which runs April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. It has a suggested list price of $5,695 and will be available in Winter 2012.

WAYNE, NJ (April 16, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the world’s first handheld 4K camcorder, the GY-HMQ10, is now shipping. Powered by JVC’s Falconbrid large-scale integration (LSI) chip for high-speed signal processing and a 1/2-inch CMOS imager with 8.3 million active pixels, it captures, records, and plays video images in real time at four times the resolution of high definition television (3840×2160) at 24p, 50p, or 60p.

In addition to 4K imaging, the GY-HMQ10 also captures and records 1080i or 1080/60p full HD in a format compatible with most editing systems, with extraordinary detail provided by its 8.3 megapixel imager and superior built-in F2.8 10x zoom lens with optical image stabilizer. Plus, an HD image can be cropped from an 4K frame in real time or in post production using the camera’s 3.5-inch touch panel LCD display.

“Even if the finished product is delivered in today’s HD resolution, 4K acquisition offers a number of technical and artistic advantages over HD acquisition,” said Edgar Shane, general manager of engineering. “We are at the beginning of end-to-end 4K production, and we have only started to scratch the surface of potential applications of the GY-HMQ10. It is truly a breakthrough product at a breakthrough price.”

JVC’s exclusive processing technology takes raw image data from the camera’s CMOS device and dematrixes (deBayers) it in real time. Unlike many high end 4K cameras, the GY-HMQ10 can output 4K images to a monitor or projection system in real time with virtually no latency, which makes it useful in a variety of applications. For example, the GY-HMQ10 can be used to feed four large 1080p flat screen monitors in a quad configuration (via four HDMI terminals) to create a large video wall presentation during a live event. Plus, with its built-in cropping feature, the GY-HMQ10 also has potential news, sports, and surveillance applications.

Using MPEG-4 technology and a variable bit rate H.264 codec operating at up to 144 Mbps, the GY-HMQ10 records up to two hours of 4K video to economical SDHC or SDXC memory cards. Similar in size to JVC’s popular GY-HM150 ProHD handheld camcorder, the GY-HMQ10 features JVC’s patented Focus Assist, as well as manual and auto control of focus, iris, gain, shutter, gamma, color matrix, and white balance. In addition to its flip-out LCD monitor, it also includes a color LCOS viewfinder and a new, intuitive user interface.

For audio, the GY-HMQ10 is equipped with manual level controls and offers audio metering in the LCD and viewfinder displays. A microphone holder and two balanced XLR connectors with phantom power are located on the handle. The camera is also equipped with a built-in stereo mic for ambient sound pickup.

The GY-HMQ10 has a suggested list price of $5,550.

WAYNE, NJ, March 9, 2012 – The first model in a line of JVC Wi-Fi camcorders is now available. The new Everio GZ-EX250 is one of four new JVC camcorders with built-in Wi-Fi that allows video clips and still images to be emailed, wireless transfer of files to smartphones, and a range of other functions.

The Wi-Fi feature is available on four 2012 Everio camcorders that combine the benefits of a conventional camcorder, such as superior image quality and a powerful zoom, with the communication convenience of a smartphone. Several unique features are available thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi. A free app for an Android device or iPhone/iPad makes it easy to wirelessly transfer video and stills to a smartphone for quick sharing via the internet. It also allows the phone to be used as a remote control for the Everio and offers geotagging of video and photo files in conjunction with the smartphone’s GPS. Video Email allows 15-second video clips (640 x 360 pixels) to be sent directly from the Everio to up to eight email addresses. Live Monitoring allows real time monitoring on a smartphone or computer of images taken with the Everio. And Auto Photo Email automatically emails stills taken using Everio’s movement detection function to a computer or smartphone.

Like all new Everio models, the GZ-EX250 record in 1920 x 1080 Full HD based on the AVCHD format, and offers high quality recording in UXP mode with a 24 Mbps sampling rate. It also has an HDMI® output for superior results when viewing on the latest large-screen TVs.

Everio E/EX series models offer basic point-and-shoot simplicity as well as a number of helpful features. Using either of the two EX models, even beginners can shoot excellent videos with the help of Smile Meter, which shows how big a smile is in percentage points, Smile Shot, which automatically takes a digital still when it detects a great smile, and Pet Shot, which automatically shoots stills when a dog or cat faces the camera. Various animation effects, such as ribbons and glasses that correctly superimpose onto people’s faces, and handwritten titles, can be added to decorate any shot. The KONICA MINOLTA HD LENS assures high quality images, while a 40x Optical Zoom enables close-up shots from far away, with no sacrifice in optical quality. Advanced Image Stabilizer effectively counters camera shake. Another new feature for 2012 is a zoom microphone that changes the focal point to match the picture so that what’s seen can be more clearly heard. There’s even a Silent Mode that lets the user mute camcorder sounds and darken the LCD for those times when unobtrusive recording is advised, such as when recording school plays or lectures. A Windows® application to support image management, simple editing and easy sharing is supplied.
